About Southern Impression Homes
As Southern Impression (SI) Homes takes its unprecedented approach to home building, we sat down with Co-Founder and President, Chris Funk, to get the details of where it all began and what SI Homes has in store for the future.
What led you to creating SI Homes?
Carter and I got into the real estate business just as the crash was starting to take hold. For several years, we focused on acquiring and renovating foreclosed homes. Once renovated, we would sell the properties to a homebuyer or lease them. Like any business there are ebbs and flows as the economy started to recover, development and new construction was a natural progression. With the help of our amazing team and loads of research, Southern Impression Homes was born.
Why did you decide to choose the certain areas you did for these neighborhood developments?
We used the same value approach that made us successful in the downturn. We focused our efforts on finding good land in good areas at a fair price, that way we can pass that savings on to our customers. It's important that the new homes are in an area where people are excited to live.
What do you think sets us apart from other developers?
I think what sets us apart from the competition is our willingness to help people find the right home for their budget. We approach our customers without any pressure of buying a bigger house or a home that has every upgrade in the book. We supply a quality home at a great price, we are more than willing to add upgrades if buyers feel it's right for them, but we are also just as happy and proud to sell our base model house. We want people to be just as happy when they make their first mortgage payment as they were the day they decided to buy the house.
What other goals do you have planned for SI homes? Do you plan on expanding to other states?
Right now, we have 5 developments starting right here in Jacksonville and reaching as far as Tallahassee. We would like to continue to grow but will only do so if we can maintain the same standards we have today.
We sincerely thank Mr. Funk for taking time to speak with us. We can't wait to see what we have in store for Southern Impression Homes. Our future is bright and our expectations are high.
